blog for humanity.

Humans, especially male ones, are familiar with bathroom urinal etiquette. That is, when walking into a public lavatory that is in use, one should always select to operate at the furthest urinal away from another in use. If all urinals are in use, one should leave and come back later. Those individuals displaying the highest manners will outright ignore the presence existence of other beings in proximity.

Cats, especially female ones, are not familiar with bathroom kitty litter etiquette. That is, when walking into a public lavatory the back porch at the same time as another cat, both cats will sit and wait indefinitely instead of applying an exponential backoff algorithm to secure usage rights. The resulting situation is a striking example of deadlock, with the litterbox not being used by either party, which of course is not optimized productivity.

Of course, maybe it was the large ackward looking bipedal creature standing in the porch snapping pictures that was keeping them at bay.
